Cross-Cultural Communication

Wow! I never thought of this subject matter and I didn't think that it would such an important issue when it was taught to me. It is extremely important to look at the cultures of other countries and how they might possibly react to a particular organization or product that may be newly introduced to their market.

Values such as demographics (which is probably the only value I'm familiar with), psychographics, and geodemographics play a very important role in the marketing of a product. Culture is another important value to look at when placing a product on the market.

Other variables I'm currently learing about are the cultural, formality, individualistic, and time attributes of products.

Issues like this is really clarified when someone puts it to the test by means of the basic & complex communication model.

Pandemic Flu Assignment & PR in General

This assignment really helped me out with the outlook of what I'll expect in my career and the hurdles that I'll jump when things get rough. I know that the unofficial definition of Public Relations is the management of communication between an organization and its publics, however, that management of communication is not always a positive one.

Things such as pandemic flu, terrorist attacks, & mother nature catastrophes put a huge pressure on the PR official and the push for information that the public demands when a big news story breaks.
